Fivefor5 Finalists: Get to know these Female Filmmakers

Five months ago, Ugandan filmmaker Kemiyondo Coutinho launched a campaign called The Fivefor5 fund to support five Ugandan female filmmakers with $5,000 each to make a five minutes long short film.
After a successful campaign, she called on female filmmakers countrywide to share their stories for a chance to get them to the ‘big screen.’
Today, she unveiled the 6 finalists including: Nicole Lawino, Cissy Nalumansi, Yvonne Sewankambo, Anne Kirya, Haimi Yohannes and Shevon Tumusiime.
Nicole Lawino
Co-founder /Managing director at KIPAJI studios, a creative entity for intelligent people that celebrates World class artistry by Africans.
She is a Writer and journalist.
Cissy Nalumansi
Script Writer, Producer and Actress, Sound track artist, and Website Designer.
Cissy Nalumansi is a multi-disciplinary, passionate story teller based in Kampala Uganda, excited about Script writing, acting and directing films. She is immeasurably enthusiastic about seeing well sculpted African stories come to life. With Africa's growing creative industry and the skills she has attained overtime from working on various creative projects, she is determined to change the narrative of African stories, one story at a time.
-Awarded 4 week script writing internship at Africa Magic in Nollywood, Nigeria for her excellent performance in the just concluded Multi choice talent factory (2019). She was part of the Multi choice talent factory (MTF) class of 2018.
Yvonne Sewankambo
Sewankambo was born in Canada, raised in Uganda, completed her undergraduate studies in the USA, and then headed to Australia for a further postgraduate degree, and has now settled in Sydney for the time being.
She describes herself as a certified film and TV show addict, book lover and publicist.
Yvonne was part of the Casting Department for ‘Family tree’, a Ugandan story (1998 ,Jinja) in which eight-year-old Nagawa seems to have an idyllic childhood, until a disastrous accident leaves her famous father fighting for his life.
Anne Kirya
Anne Kirya is the creator, writer and director of M'aasawo web series, a description of the normal, odd and uncomfortable things that happen to people in taxis in Uganda, with a dose of drama.
Skilled at using writing to create content in video, digital, print and audio mediums.
-Creator of ‘ForFoodsSakeEat’ blog, a food review blog dedicated to sharing good food made in Uganda.
